Hello Kindergarten Families,
My name is Nicole Mathews and I am very excited to be your child’s teacher this year. I began teaching kindergarten at Midway Elementary School in 1997. I currently hold a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and continually attend workshops/classes to further my education. When I am not working to support the students in my room I am spending time with my husband, two daughters, and the family pets. I also enjoy reading, exercising, scrapbooking, shopping, cooking, and baking.
I look forward to a busy and enriching year with your child. During the school year we will cover all subject areas with an emphasis in reading, writing, and math. I am amazed each year as I watch the children progress into successful readers, writers, and mathematicians. I ask that you take a few minutes each night to work with your child in all take home activities (encourage him/her to complete assigned homework, projects, family activities, etc.). Parental participation is a great way to stay involved in your child’s education and enhance his/her kindergarten experience. If at any time you have a question or concern, please feel free to call or send an email.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mathews
